About Sharing Excess

Sharing Excess is one of the fastest-growing food rescue organizations in America, built on a simple but powerful mission: save food and feed communities. What started as a student startup now operates across the country, distributing 2 million pounds of food every week (100 million pounds annually) to thousands of community partners nationwide.

Our work is visionary, impactful, and deeply human. We move quickly, think creatively, and operate like a high-growth startup. We’ve partnered with some of the biggest names and brands on the planet (MrBeast, Tony Robbins, Billie Eilish, Dole) to bring awareness to our mission. Now we’re seeking individuals to join our team who can deliver with excellence, raise the bar, and are (above all) passionate about making the world a better place.

Role Highlight

The Brand + Product Designer will help define and elevate the visual identity of Sharing Excess across our digital platforms and beyond. This role exists to serve the cross-functional design needs of the organization—primarily owning the brand and design of our SE Food Rescue App, sharingexcess.com, and our broader digital identity.

You’ll be a fulltime member of the SE Tech team, collaborating closely with the CTO and engineers to improve our current user-facing platform and prototype new features. At the same time, you’ll be a shared creative resource for Marketing—bringing the brand to life across decks, media, and marketing content.

This is a high-ownership role for a designer who’s excited to build foundational systems, create beautiful and consistent brand work, and apply that same design thinking to intuitive product experiences.

Responsibilities Include

  • Lead brand design work across Sharing Excess, ensuring consistent, recognizable, and high-quality creative output
  • Manage the design of the SE Food Rescue App, including UI improvements and feature-level design support
  • Own and evolve the visual design of sharingexcess.com, collaborating with tech partners to implement improvements
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive design system that supports both brand and product needs
  • Create high-quality marketing assets, including social graphics, campaign materials, and fundraising collateral
  • Develop reusable templates and resources (presentation decks, brand assets, etc.) to empower cross-functional teams
  • Partner closely with engineers and stakeholders to translate ideas into polished, usable designs
  • Participate in weekly Tech team meetings and contribute actively to ongoing product development work

What We’re Looking For (Ideal Candidate)

You’re a highly motivated early to mid-career designer with a broad, well-rounded skillset across brand, digital, and product design. You’re a generalist, comfortable shifting between brand identity, content design, UI/UX, and marketing assets,  and excited to shape and own a design system rather than operate within rigid guardrails.

You bring an entrepreneurial mindset and strong ownership instincts. You can work independently, make thoughtful design decisions, and identify opportunities proactively. You’re comfortable with feedback and iteration, thrive in fast-moving environments, and want to grow alongside a mission-driven organization. You’re flexible and truly creative - able to partner effectively with leaders who have strong instincts, helping clarify direction and turn evolving ideas into polished, on-brand work.

You’re also collaborative and communicative, able to partner closely with engineers, marketing teammates, and leadership while confidently pushing creative direction forward.

You’ll Have (Required)

  • Strong experience in Brand Design
  • Experience with Product Design (digital product or app experience)
  • Ability to create compelling marketing content and brand assets
  • A portfolio demonstrating work across brand design, product/UI design, and marketing content
  • Deep experience using Figma, including design systems and component-based workflows
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

It’s Amazing If You Also Have

  • UI/UX Design background (beyond visual/UI)
  • UX Research experience
  • Graphic design experience across print + digital
  • Web development familiarity (Webflow is our tool of choice, HTML/CSS is helpful)
