Food Rescue Operations

About Sharing Excess

Sharing Excess is one of the fastest-growing food rescue organizations in America, built on a simple but powerful mission: save food and feed communities. What started as a student startup now operates across the country, distributing 2 million pounds of food every week (100 million pounds annually) to thousands of community partners nationwide.

Our work is visionary, impactful, and deeply human. We move quickly, think creatively, and operate like a high-growth startup. We’ve partnered with some of the biggest names and brands on the planet (MrBeast, Tony Robbins, Billie Eilish, Dole) to bring awareness to our mission. Now we’re seeking individuals to join our team who can deliver with excellence, raise the bar, and are (above all) passionate about making the world a better place.

  • Dispatchers / transportation partners
  • Receiving agencies across the country

Role Highlight

The Direct Link Coordinator exists to connect large-scale food donations—often full truckloads—strategically within our network of receiving agencies. This role provides critical “last mile” logistics coordination to ensure food moves quickly, efficiently, and to the right partners at the right time.

You’ll work closely with internal team members, dispatchers, and agency partners to place loads, communicate updates, and track deliveries in real time. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and energized by fast-paced logistics work that directly supports communities nationwide.

Responsibilities Include

  • Reach out to our agency network to identify interest and confirm placement for available Direct Link donations
  • Track where each load is placed using Sharing Excess tools (SE app, spreadsheets, and internal tracking systems)
  • Communicate ETAs, delays, and key updates with receiving agencies to ensure smooth delivery coordination
  • Communicate with dispatchers and transportation partners to track loads in real time
  • Work internally with the Chief Program Officer to support placement strategy across regions
  • Onboard new Direct Link receiving agencies and support growth of the DL partner network
  • Help maintain a diverse, reliable, and responsive DL agency network
  • Support relationship maintenance with current high-volume donor partners as needed

You’ll Have:

  • Strong attention to detail and comfort managing many moving parts at once
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in time-sensitive situations
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize quickly
  • A proactive, customer-service oriented mindset when working with partners
  • Ability to problem-solve and stay calm when plans shift or delays occur
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, logistics-heavy environment

It’s Amazing If You Also Have

  • Experience in food banking, food rescue, or related nonprofit logistics work
  • Familiarity with dispatch coordination, freight movement, or supply chain operations
  • Experience using QuickBooks (preferred)

You’ll be Successful If:

  • You respond quickly, communicate clearly, and keep multiple partners aligned in real time
  • You’re energized by urgent logistics and can adapt instantly when conditions change
  • You stay organized and accurate while managing high volumes of information
  • You are relationship-driven and can build trust with agencies and donors
  • You think strategically about placement—not just moving loads, but placing them where they create the most impact
